Greenville College began migrating to Desire2Learn Learning Suite in January 2012, with a pilot program of 20 courses. 100 additional courses were added for the college's summer offerings, and by the end of May 2012, all of Greenville's courses in over 50 different degree programs had been successfully migrated to the new platform.
"A seamless course migration process was incredibly important to us," remarks Vickie Cook, Dean of School of Education and Director of Online Learning, Greenville College. "We wanted to make sure that the courses we built in Angel could be migrated quickly and easily. Desire2Learn was able to do that for us and was able to work within our short timeline. From the very first pilot course, we knew we were going to have a great experience."
Desire2Learn Learning Suite met all of Greenville College's faculty, staff, and student criteria in the evaluation process, including the need for simplicity and ease of use, as well as complete mobile functionality. The college also sought ease of grading and the ability to effortlessly create and maintain rubrics, all of which Greenville found in the Desire2Learn platform.
"During the selection process, we were looking for a company that would be a partner in education - a company that shared our philosophies and our college's needs," said Cook. "Our committee most definitely felt Desire2Learn was able to do that. Now, that we've implemented the system, that hasn't changed. Faculty members are excited about the migration and instructors in our pilot have really enjoyed using the system. Student feedback about Desire2Learn Learning Suite has been extremely positive as well."
In addition to Desire2Learn Learning Environment, Greenville College is also utilizing Desire2Learn ePortfolio campus-wide to provide social learning opportunities and to enable students to engage in lifelong learning by exporting the contents of their ePortfolio upon graduation. The college will also implement Desire2Learn Learning Repository in July to enable the sharing of resources across the college and will utilize Desire2Learn Analytics in September to better measure and improve the college's retention rates.
"Greenville College is implementing a wide range of Desire2Learn technology to enhance the teaching and learning experience," remarks John Baker, President, Desire2Learn. "We look forward to assisting Greenville in further developing a social, engaging, and intuitive experience for their students."
