Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, July 04, 2012
Desire2Learn Incorporated ("Desire2Learn") today announced the finalists for the 2012 Desire2EXCEL Awards.
The Desire2EXCEL Awards recognize organizations and institutions that have used Desire2Learn technology to deliver learning experiences that are innovative, collaborative, or have a significant impact on education. Finalists were chosen by the Desire2EXCEL Committee, comprised of a cross-section of Desire2Learn clients from K-12, higher education, government, and corporations.
Listed below are the finalists in each of the three award categories. For more details about their projects, please visit this page.
Desire2EXCEL Innovation Award: A nomination to this category breaks with conventional processes to address needs and go beyond marginal improvements. The innovation can be present within a course, program, or community.
Desire2EXCEL Collaboration Award: A nomination to this category could include collaboration between and among learners, instructors, administrators, internal and external mentors/experts, researchers, and/or community members within the course, department, or institution. Collaboration could also be with external agencies, corporations, school districts, colleges, universities, and/or consortiums.
Desire2EXCEL Impact Award: Nominations to this category have a wide influence and scope, and can be replicated by others either internally to the institution or externally by others. Additionally, metrics and measurement evidence proves worthiness of being a best practice with broad implementation.
"Desire2Learn congratulates all the finalists of the Desire2EXCEL awards on their exceptional achievements," remarks John McLeod, Vice-President, Marketing, Desire2Learn. "These innovative uses of Desire2Learn technology embody the theme of FUSION 2012 - to encourage our community of users to collaborate and innovate together to further transform teaching and learning."
Full descriptions of each of the finalists' projects are available here. Winners will be announced for these three categories as well as the Desire2EXCEL Joint Research and Development award during FUSION 2012, Desire2Learn's annual users' conference, happening July 16-18 in San Diego, California.
